Professor Liu Maosheng
Liu Maosheng currently holds the title of "Yunshan Distinguished Scholar" at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). He serves as a Professor, PhD Supervisor, and Postdoctoral Research Supervisor at the Faculty of English Language and Culture, Vice Dean of the Institute of Foreign Literature and Culture, and Executive Director of the Future Humanities Laboratory at GDUFS.From 2004 to 2007, he pursued his doctoral degree in Comparative Literature and World Literature at Central China Normal University,under the guidance of Professor Nie Zhenzhao, a Foreign Fellow of the British Academy, Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea, and internationally renowned scholar. He conducted postdoctoral research at the School of Foreign Languages, Zhejiang University from 2008 to 2010. In 2010 and 2025, he was twice funded by the China Scholarship Council to carry out academic research as a Visiting Scholar and Senior Research Scholar respectively in the Faculty of English at the University of Cambridge, UK.
He has completed two projects sponsored by the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC): The Conflict and Integration of Art and Morality: A Study of Oscar Wilde and Ethical Expressions of Society and Politics: A Study of George Bernard Shaw’s Plays, as well as two sub-projects of NSSFC major projects and one sub-project of the Major Project funded by the Ministry of Education. Currently, he serves as the chief expert and is leading the major project funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, "The Documentation and Research of the History of Sino-Foreign Drama Exchange in the Past Century". His main research fields cover Foreign Literature and Comparative Literature,Ethical Literary Criticism, and Narratology, with his relevant research achievements winning high praise from academics at home and abroad.
He also holds concurrent positions as the Associate Editor of the A&HCI-indexed journal Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature, President of the Drama/Theatre Division ,Chinese Association for Comparative Studies of Languages and Cultures, Standing Director of the British Literature Research Branch of the Chinese Foreign Literature Society, and Standing Director of the Narrative Studies Branch of the China Association for Comparative Literature and Arts Theories. He has published four academic monographs, and more than ten of his academic papers have been indexed by A&HCI. His publications have won several Provincial-level Excellent Achievement Award for the outstanding academic achievements.
